Khymeia is the ancient word to describe the chemical, the same from which it originates "alchemy." The album follows "AcquaTerra", their first official work, and is infused with melodies from different parts of the world, who meet each other, giving rise to that sacred union longed: Irpinia, Ireland, the Iberian Peninsula, Italy, France , Britain, Egypt, Finland, Campania, Norway, Denmark, Sweden. From South to North, from the hot lands of the Mediterranean to the cold lands of the north, by the musical accents of the Latin languages in the most marked and determined the Saxons.
It is Folk, made with tools of all kinds: harp, bouzouki, percussion, violin, flutes. Seventeen songs, half new and half traditional, in one world, with echoes of legends, dances, songs of mysterious and pagan places that kids will bring on many stages in Italy and Europe.
The album will be available on all digital stores from July 22 and physically distributed by Family Affair as early as 15th of the month.

Almara is
an international early music ensemble, founded by Elisabeth Pawelke during her
studies at the Schola Cantorum in Basel. The musical focus of the ensemble is
to the secular repertoire of the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, with which
the musicians sat down intensively and they awaken with great enthusiasm and
virtuosity to life.
The
musicians studied at the music academies in Milan, Basel, The Hague and New
York and worked with renowned ensembles and orchestras early music together
such. B. Cantus Firmus, La Scintilla, EST !, Phoenix Ensemble, Estampie and the
Venice Baroque Orchestra. 2009, the first CD entitled "Outros Amores"
was published, the topic deals with the various aspects of love and devotion in
the Middle Ages, which are reflected in a poetic way in the medieval
compositions.
Line-up:

Emanuele
Forni - Different sounds
Sabine
Kreutzberger - Fidel, viol
Sascha gotowtschikow

On the
debut album of Almara - "Outros Amores" unite medieval chansons of
the French poet-composer Guillaume de Machaut, galizisch- Portuguese Cantigas
and traditional Sephardic Romances with Spanish music and poetry of the
Renaissance, such as with a Villancico of Luis de Narváez. About all these
pieces, however, hovers the theme of love and devotion in the Middle Ages and
the Renaissance, which reveals itself in its various aspects, such as hope,
religious devotion, fulfillment or disappointment and is reflected also in the
title "outros amores".
The history
of "Kalevala" begins in spring 2007, when Ksenia and Nikita left
"Nevid" after having arguments with Lesjar (the Nevid's frontman).
After that
scillfull and experienced musicians were found and group began to write new
songs. The first demo was recorded in september 2007 and consisted of two songs
"Pastushok"(A cowboy) and "Goy, Olen!" (Hey, Deer!). The
first show was held on the 5th of october of the same year. The project began
to evolve impetuously after that, and concerts were held not only in Mosow and
Sain-Petersburg.
In april
2008 the label Sound Age released the first disk called "Kudel
belosnedgnogo lna". That really amazing mixture of cheerful folk tunes,
unique Ksenia's singing, highly skilled leading guitar and accordion play left
very few people unfazed. The CD sold out well and was supported with many
cocerts over Russia. In summer 2008 the Kalevala participated in several folk
festivals and started working on new material for the next album called
"The Cuckoo's Children" . After only a year band gathers full night
clubs and share the scene with such bands as Manegarm (Sweden), Menhir
(Germany), Znich (Belarus), Arcona and Alconost (Russia). So Kalevala managed
to establish a reputation as a great live band and showed high qualification in
studio work.
In may-june
2009 the band is going to record "The Cuckoo's Children" at the Lazar
Studio (Arcona, Rossomahar)

Kanseil is
a Folk Metal project begun in late 2010 in Fregona, Veneto, Italy. It's named
after the ancient name of Cansiglio, its home-place's mountains that are often
told about in its songs. The band looks for an own style, that assembles early
medieval melodies and traditional folk sounds from all over Europe, with death
and black metal riffs, along with acoustic assembles in an ancient-fashioned
atmosphere.
The band in
realized the self-produced demo “Tzimbar Bint” in 2013, than it started playing
on many stages at local events all over Italy and Europe sharing the stage with
a lot of other underground and international metal bands. In 2014 the band join
the roster of Nemeton Records.
In May 2015
Kanseil released their first full-length “Doin Earde”!
At friday the 19th of august 2016 we will release our new CD "MIDGARD".
"MIDGARD" will be a musical journey into the north. Into the myths and the world of the vikings and the northern celts. We will sing about Alswinn, the sky horse, about nights in enchanted birch forests, about sun celebrations, ravens, foxes and about Odin himself. With the help of great guest musicians and an elaborate illustrated booklett MIDGARD will be released in two editions:
MIDGARD - Standard edition (in a jewel case, with 11songs & 24 pages booklet)
MIDGARD - limited deluxe edition (in a digipack with 15 songs & 28 pages booklett).
We could not be more proud about a CD. MIDGARD became a very magical & archaic journey into the north.
Very soon we will release the first snippets. You can already preorder MIDGARD here:
Here is another snippet of a song of our upcoming CD "MIDGARD". It was a great honour for us, to work here together with Wardruna from Norway. Like only a very few other bands Wardruna spezialised in the Viking tradition and the meaning of the runes. Many of you might now them as the co-composer of the soundtrack for the TV series "Vikings". In our song we are telling the story how Odin was hanging nine days at Ygggdrasil to receive the runes. Later in the song Wardruna sing one of the most central parts of the Edda, where Odin speaks directly to the reader about the right usage of the runemagic.
The Teutha
project has started with an idea of his grounders Xander Lee and Lorenz W
Funkyn, who have found their identity in Pagan Earth Folk, after trying with
Rock, Metal and celtic music.
Thanks also
to the other two band members, Stefano Rapetti and Elisa Disalvia, Teuta's
philosopy and music has concretized in an expression of the connection with
nature, our Mother, to which we owe everything.
Their music
tells old, in time almost lost stories and prophecys, and criticizes modern
humanity for it's too bound to the system.
"Teutha"
is celtic and means brotherhood and tribe, and it's a shamanic symbol for the
oneness, in the music and in life.
Together,
we want to send a message to you: join the spirit of nature, go back to the
earth and let the Mother embrace you.
SOWULO is a
Dutch pagan band that makes ambient folk music inspired by 'viking mythology'.
With modern-day instruments they create music that takes you back to the roots
of this inspiration, the roots of Yggdrasil.
The aim of
this musical project is to awaken the viking gods, and to become aware of our
rich spiritual heritage.
Their debut
album is named after the Germanic name for the sun, Alvenrad. The concept of
this album is built upon the pagan year feasts. The 'authentic' pagan society
celebrated the changing of the seasons, which was caused by the sun.
They are
ready to climb the stage and join you with celebrating our great pagan legacy!

called "Nordic World Music".
The
ensemble performs at concerts and international festivals. They even were
invited to perform for the royal families of Norway and Sweden. So far the band
has published over one dozen albums and were featured in many more as guest
musicians. Poeta Magica also provide the soundtrack and equipment for many

This will be for sure a very nostalgic moment for us, looking forward,
it long
ago, was a forgotten era of all, a vile god, arrogant and drunk with power
removed all entertainment to men. He broke through the drums, flutes broke and
cut the cords of guiternes.
A gloomy
silence fell on the ground, with his sad lot.
Satisfied
with his cruel victory, it went to sleep.
A hermit
visiting the nearest town, saw with grief the reigning chaos. He threw a
challenge to the evil god that if he managed to make it sound a piece of wood
and goat skin, it should repair any misdeeds. By cons, if he failed, it should
serve this unjust god for all eternity. The god accepted biensur laughing, and
the hermit disappeared during long days.
It's a
beautiful spring morning, the dawn, the inhabitants of the town were awakened,
even before the cock crow, with a thunderous melody, as strong a hundred horses
neighing.
Red with
anger, hate god fell out of bed and ran to know the origin of all the noise.
He saw the
hermit, holding under his arm goat skin, filled with air which came out three
pieces of wood, on which he put his fingers to change the sound.
All the
villagers out of their homes and came dancing around the hermit and the god.
The latter cursed and glaring at the crowd of people present, he disappeared forever.
Since that
glorious day, men play this instrument to keep away the gloom, but above all to
prevent this evil god of sleep.
Born in
2013 from the common passion of 4 musicians for the pagan-folk and the medieval
fantasy world, Acus Vacuum will lead you into the mysterious world of the lost
rites and rituals of the legendary people of Arduina! Powerful bagpipes with
catchy melodies accompanied by drums vibrating the heart of the earth invite
the body and mind of men at the party! Their dancer highlights their music with
rites of their forgotten culture in a mixture of shamanism and tribal. Their
pagan-folk / neo-medieval style, surely make you tap your feet, clap your hands
and raise your glasses! Let yourself be carried away by their music!
Saffron Sun
is a centipede in the world; travel with the Hot Club of Paris to a Hungarian
wedding, through the balmy coffee houses of Istanbul to the busy streets of
Delhi, and everything in between. This musical caravan is a tribute to both the
adventure on the road as the poetry of everyday life, a plea for tolerance in a
global multicultural society and an ode to the sun and the way south.
The band
has its roots in the fertile soil of the ArtEZ Conservatory in Arnhem, where
Nilla (violin and vocals) and Luke (guitar) studying Jazz and Pop. Michael
followed the classical accordion training, then he played many Balkan and
klezmer music. Rico (bass) is a trained jazz bassist. Philip (percussion)
played guitar in the folk band Omnia.
Saffron Sun
allows you dancing through hot summer nights and warms you like a hot, spicy
cup of chai in the dead of winter - because even if it's snowing outside and
rushes on stage the sun shines.
Gny plays
music from the distant past of the North
Gny brings
new life into the oldest known Nordic music: the folkmusic and not least the
Danish folksongs.
The Nordic
countries, including Denmark, holds a treasure of folksongs. The main part of
these was written down during the Renaissance, but many of the songs have roots
streching even further back in time. Characteristic for the folksongs is that
they have no composer but belong to the people singing and playing.
Hence it is
not possible to know in which way they were originaly performed, and there
exists no correctionlist for future performing. Often folksongs are interpreted
in a nationalromantic way and many people have combined the songs with jazz,
techno etc.
Gny goes
back in search of the original starting point, using reconstructed medieval
instruments. At the same time we try to make the traditional music present and
come alive to the audience, as we think the best way to keep the music alive is
by communication and understanding
Not all our
songs originate from the Middle Ages, but they all take part of the popular
tradition of musical storytelling, singing and dancing. A tradition having
roots far, far back in the mists of the past.

La Horde
stands at the crossing between middle age, pagan, cetlic music…and rock’n’roll
! And all that with a lot of humor and surprises. A show with La Horde is much more than just music, it’s a time to
share between the audience and the band, where anything, and everything can
happen. It’s an unexpected journey, where the many adventures are worth the trip.
Don’t get surprised if you find yourself dancing to old 90’s hits (I mean…1990
of course)… It’s normal !
With a
second album called “Bonne Nouvelle” (wich means “Good News”, “Good Omen” ) out
in mai 2016, La Horde is out to spread
their message of love, party and fun in a humble way and with main
purpose to mix musical quality and entertainment !
“Bonne Nouvelle”
mark the arrival of Mich Rozek on drums (Ex-Omnia, Ex-Illiana, Rastaban). In
this album, the band defines more precisely it’s own style, made of a lot of
different influences, from Classical Music to Heavy Metal, and dig deeper in
all these ideas to create a folk music that gets the subtlety of classical
music, the power of rock n roll, and the belgian sense of humor.

“La Maisnie
Hellequin” in medieval and traditional legends refers to a band of little
spirits, led by Hellequin, making terrible noise at night…
The
musicians of La Maisnie Hellequin play around this theme, making musical
parades, to create a special atmosphere by the strange sounds of hurdy gurdy,
bruegelian bagpipe, nyckelharpa and medieval drums, inspirated by the legendary
world.

Sabrina Gelin: hurdy-gurdy.

Text in Old
French (13th century) about La Maisnie Hellequin:
Lunar Womb
was a ambient/ folk/ electronic project of me started in 1995 with a couple of
friends. After the first demo I continued alone and released another demo in
1997. In 1998 I got myself some better musical equipment to fulfill my visions
and this cassette demo was planned to release in the turn of 1998/1999.
Due to
other band- related things, It took me some time to finish it properly but when
it was finally ready I felt it was so outdated I didn´t want to release it
anymore.
I found the
tracks and the layout- files from my backups in 2015 and after careful
reconsideration I decided to finish what I had once started and remastered it
from the original pieces. All the artwork and layout was originally intended
for a cassette release and the music is 100% original except for remastering
for a bit more better listening experience.
This
release is an important part of my musical history and in a way can be
considered the only "solo album" I have ever done- and probably ever
will. It can also be found from various places in the internet for free
listening or to download but due to numerous requests I am also putting it to
bandcamp as lossless files.
I hope the
atmosphere and the burning passion and longing for something ancient I was
intending to create back then can still be heard over 15 years later.
Starting
out as a story, Helisir was about a Northern Avalon, shrouded in mystery and a
combination of the Norwegian words: Helig (Sacred) and Sirkel (Circle). Since I
was 14 years old I've always had this "thing" for Norway and after my
trip to the Lofoten in May 2014 this "thing" became the most solid
foundation for Helisir.
I guess
this year was needed for the idea to fully develop itself and I needed more
music too! I've spend my time composing and experiencing. Creating by force
never did me any good so this time my approach was completely different.
Ever since
I was little, I've been involved with music. My dad used to have an organ at
home which was later replaced by a Tyros 2, 3, 4 and now the 5. I can't even
explain how grateful I am as the Tyros has become my main ingredient for all my
compositions. It helped me develop my own style, my own rythms and discover
hidden talents at the right time.
I also play
whistles and flutes like the Irish Tin and Low Whistle, the Chinese Hulusi and
Dizi and the Japanese Shakuhachi as well as Alt Flute and Recorder. I also play
Hurdy Gurdy and a bit of harp and violin, but as these require much more
lessons, time and money I do not consider them my main instruments like vocals,
keys and flutes.
In the past
I've performed at several festivals both in the Netherlands and beyond: Elf
Fantasy Fair (NL), Castlefest (NL), Fantasiafest (NL), Spaceritter (DE) and 3
Wishes Faery Fest (UK). My plan is not to just perform at festivals, but also
smaller venues like weddings, receptions and/or occasions. I also compose on
request: lullabies for babies (yet to be born) , toddlers, kids and older. If
you have a request or wish me to compose something you can always contact me.
About
Helisir
Helisir is
an ambient experimental folk project that combines several elements in those
musical categories. The overall use of synths, bells and ethereal strings make
the entirety of the project sound dreamy and atmospheric, while the sound of
flutes can be heard in the distance. A variety of myths, folklore, poetry and
stories are combined into packages of songs. A recognizable sound is the wide
and varied use of vocals.
Songs are sung in several languages, but mainly
English and Norwegian as the themes are inspired by Norwegian legends and
fairytales. The symbol vegvisir accompanying and appearing often in artform is
at the same time a way to protect this project. All songs are an ode to
ancestors, bards, poets and those who can find a peace of heart and mind in the
crafts of creation.

Jacqueline's
Music has
always played a huge role in Jacqueline's life. Starting in her first band at
the age of 14, choral experience since the age of 7 and succesfully launching
her own endeavours publicly twice it remains the red thread that guarantees a
well functioning human being. Without singing, the plucking of strings, the
pressing of keys or the air flowing through flute playing... Music is heavily
intertwined with daily life.
Combine
that with the love for games, movies and the music often accompanied and you
have a well scrambled mix of intentions, ideas and concepts. Add to that a
healthy obsession for the Norse Path and a fascination for the Norwegian,
Icelandic, Irish, Scottish and Japanese culture and tada! Destined to end up in
the folk scene with a nice twist to it.
After
finishing school in 2011 and troubles finding work that fits a wild spirited
nature Jacqueline has now consciously chosen the path of the musician. The wish
to connect and nurture communities that honor the magic and sourcefulness of
our Earth came more into existence with Helisir. Consisting of the two Norse
words HELIg + SIRkel a new dream was born in 2012 and the debut album
"Ravn" released in May 2015.
But the
journey does not end there! A vast revival of the old faithes is at hand, more
and more people realize that not only do we live and work on this planet: she
is a very living and breathing being providing us with shelter, food and
EXISTENCE. Respecting the older traditions who took way more care of our Mother
is something that slowly returns in the collective consciousness. Helisir
wishes to attribute to that by music that taps directly from the Greater Divine
with the main source being the Norse Gods and Goddesses, deities, myths and
lores both known and from the Dream Realm.
With the
succesful crowdfunding campaign "Fólkvangr" our ships have set sail
for new directions. Freyja the Goddess of love, war, mysticism and all aspects
of powerful female life and death energy will be the main subject of the new
album which is currently being recorded. Jacqueline is also part of LEAF which
also focusses on the Nordic side of the folk music scene. There will sometimes
be mixed acoustic shows with both Helisir and LEAF playing for you. Check out
the Agenda to see if we play anywhere near you.
