Havet began in 2018 as a ‘one man’ experiment in the ‘Dungeon Synth’ and ‘Dark Ambient’ genres with a Nordic and Celtic influence. The unique mixture of Nordic and Celtic heritage of the creator’s homeland, the north of Ireland, greatly influences the sound. The music is based around the history of the Nordic expansion of Ireland and the British Isles during the 8th century through the use of cold atmospheres and ‘lo-fi’ instrumentation. The Nose-Gaels greatly shaped the island of Ireland and this music aims to aid the listener in imagining their journey was like, with tales of the ocean, death, nature and victory.
This project was inspired by the 8th century Scandinavian expansion through the North of Ireland and the outer islands of Northern Scotland.
It is pretty raw production value, with some traditional dark ambient music and traditional dungeon synth blended in.
Well as we all know the founder of the group Wardruna Einar Selvik will release the album entitled "Skald" and will see the light on November 28
For years now Wardruna founder Einar Selvik has done acoustic concerts and lectures, performing Wardruna songs on his own, as well as creations made for the TV-show “Vikings” in an acoustic format. Now parts of this material has finally been recorded “live in studio” in Solslottet Studio in Bergen (Norway), and is set for release through By Norse Music on November 23rd 2018.
“Skald” takes the listener on a musical journey outside the massive soundscape that Wardruna is known for and into a simpler and more direct form, where voice, poetry and ancient instruments like Kravik-lyre, Taglharpa and Bukkehorn lead the way.
Einar Selvik comments:
“Skald” was recorded live in the studio with the intention of capturing the raw and uncompromising energy of a live performance rather than aiming for a flawless and polished expression. It sets out to give voice to the ancient craft that once lay at the heart of the Norse oral traditions, presented as it takes shape in the hands of a humble contemporary skald today.
All formats of the album contains an extensive booklet with all lyrics translated as well as a solid introduction to the Skald and Old Norse poetry written by the acclaimed Icelandic author and Old Norse philologist Bergsveinn Birgisson.
Skald was recorded, mixed and mastered by Iver Sandøy at Solslottet Studio in 2018.

Here another great band that in the month of April released a new EP entitled 'Fables' that will take them with their music to a world of myths and rituals
Fables is distant echoes of ancient myths and rituals. Fables is music, that traveler hears in the songs of forest birds, in the howl of the northern wind, in the creaking of branches, in the silence of a starry night and in the sound of his own heart. Fables is dreams and visions that we will forget after awakening, but will remember at the last moment…

“From fairytale metal to rocking balfolk” (Folkforum.nl). The five multi-instrumentalists of Orfeo come from different backgrounds like medieval music, classical music, rock, metal and celtic folk and all these influences are prominent in the music they make today. These friends do not only mix various genres but also different instruments like harp, hurdy-gurdy, flute, bass guitar, electric guitar and drums.
Several folkbals and stages have met Orfeo, also festivals such as the Elf Fantasy Fair, Folkwoods, Summer Darkness, Castlefest and the Midvinterfestival in Denmark.
In may 2014 Orfeo presents her second album Terra Amorosa. It contains one traditional and eleven tunes, composed by the band members themselves.

The members of Orfeo are also involved in other musical projects such as Rama, Ball Noir and Kelten zonder Grenzen. The Orfeo’s themselves are also very fond of dancing and can be found on many a folkbal!

Foundations for :NODFYR: were laid by Joris and Niels in 2011, fueled by a desire to make heathen metal inspired by the folklore, mythology and nature of their native Gelderland. Nodfyr is the name of a pagan Germanic practice of fire making, mentioned in the 8th century Indiculus superstitionum et paganiarum. Nodfyr is one of the oldest (proto-) Dutch words.
Early versions of songs were recorded with the help of violin player Irma and after Niels went on to pursue other goals in 2014 Jasper and Mark joined in 2015. Due to their involvement in various other music endeavors (Heidevolk, Wederganger, Alvenrad) the two songs for their first release were finished in the summer of 2017.
LEIDUNGR is a Nordic Ritual Folk project. The latest album "Nordiska Hymner" is released by Trutzburg Thule 2017. The lyrical concept of "Nordiska Hymner" is a philosophical presentation of ancient myths and spirituality of northern Europe.
Step into the realms of LEIDUNGR once again in a mindset of meditation and embrace the heritage granted to those who possess the necessary traits by ancient forces and currents, made into something sinister through the passage of time.
The debut album, “De Nio Kraftsångerna”, was released by Equilibrium Music 2013
Crafted by weaving ritual elements into traditional folk, LEIDUNGR‘s mesmerizing work is also imbued with an indelible martial aura which reinforces the underlying heroic mood summoned on these recordings. The potent and evocative combination, which spreads across various genres, often re-creating their common formats, allows LEIDUNGR to carve their unique brand of Nordic Ritual Folk – a term which perfectly defines the genuine atmosphere of their long awaited debut album.
Although its inception can arguably be traced back to ARDITI‘s “Statues of Gods” release (10” EP 2009, Equilibrium Music), LEIDUNGR quickly grew into a unique separate entity. Visual assistance was found in Freki Wodenswolf, a talented artist known his unique handcrafted creations, made from natural materials as leather, wood, horn, bone and metal. Perfectly in tune with the project’s inspiration and Nordic roots, Freki has provided much of the artwork that accompanies LEIDUNGR‘s outputs. The band made their debut via the limited edition “Hell Eder Asar” 7″ EP, released on Fronte Nordico in 2011, which quickly started to build anticipation surrounding the release of a full album. “De Nio Kraftsångerna” is the name of the debut album, released in February 2013 via Equilibrium Music on matt varnished Digipak CD with copper printing.
Second album "Nordiska Hymner" was released 2017 by Trutzburg Thule. The lyrical concept of "Nordiska Hymner" is a philosophical presentation of ancient myths and spirituality of northern Europe.
LEIDUNGR represent the few but strong, those never enslaved by any way of inferior thoughts.
Through the music created by LEIDUNGR you will be able to come in contact with your own inner ancient Warrior Spirit.
Step into the realms of LEIDUNGR once again in a mindset of meditation and embrace the heritage granted to those who possess the necessary traits by ancient forces and currents, made into something sinister through the passage of time.
Songs from the heart of nature, inspiration from the depth of the soul
I have been working with heathen folk music since 2006 for my project Eliwagar. I have always been inspired by nature and the heathen spirituality which reflects a lot in the lyrics. With the side project "Runahild" I wish to come even closer to a natural soundscape. I came to a point when most of the primal ideas are based on old instruments, instead of guitar, which is bringing an other kind of energy flow. While I was often dreaming myself away with Eliwagar, picturing ancient worlds and lands, my new songs are rooted in the nature spirituality experienced in this life.
Founders: Ragnar - guitar and Semund - bass. The intention and purpose of the musicians has always been to try to catch the atmosphere and the feeling of Norse mythology, combined with the intensity of the northern folk themes mixed with the metal. Title "Midgaard" was taken from Norse mythology, Midgard - a Midlands - housing people. Was created by Odin and his brothers from the bodies of the giant Ymir. Sparks and embers from Muspell were installed in mid-Ginnungagap to give light to Midgard. They became stars, pointing the way ...

The Dutch folk metal band Jötnar started in 2008 writing about the quintessential folk themes: the Gods of old, Viking lore and ancient wars inspired Jötnars songs. In more recent years Jötnar has chosen not to limit themselves to just these themes. Writing songs about both the serious and outlandish, they fused different styles in their music while still staying faithful to their folk metal roots.
Odroerir exists since autumn of 1998, when Fix started Odroerir as a project with Fenrir, who wanted to provide him with lyrics... From the beginning, the music was intended to be a calmer and more epic form of “Pagan Metal”, where folklore/medieval melodies should dominate. Unlike other bands in the genre, we intended to perform ingeniously without speed-attacks or double-bass drumming, but with various natural instruments, eclectic vocals and other stylistic devices... The texts should also reveal the multifaceted topic of Germanic and Celtic mythology, the pre- and early history of the heathen Europe and all about the life, the death and the history of our ancestors... .. At the end of 1999 Fix (guitars, vocals) restructured the band to enable live activities... In spring of 2000, the first official 5-track-demo “Iring” was recorded together with Stickel (guitar, vocals), Ivonne (vocals), Ralph (bass-guitar) and Philipp (drums). Shortly after, the first shows were being planned... .. In 2001 Ars Metalli published the first album “Laßt euch sagen aus alten Tagen…” which, to our surprise, was sold out after a short time. The first album was re-released a few years later by ourselves... .. In autumn of 2003, we rushed to the studio once again with new music. Two of those songs, initially intended as promo material, were chosen in 2003 to be released as an illustrative 7inch EP by the young new label Det Germanske Folket... .. In 2005 we signed a new contract and “Einheit Produktionen” published the mammoth piece “Götterlieder”, which is the audio version of the first part of “Edda”. After some line-up changes over the years, Odroerir played a lot of gigs and festivals and started the first European Tour together with Eluveitie (Switzerland) in 2006. In 2007 we went on tour once again, this time together with Tyr (Faroe Islands) and Black Messiah (Germany)... .. In 2008 we started the long writing and recording process of the next album “Götterlieder II” which was interrupted by diverse live shows and another European Tour, this time together with two German Bands Helfahrt and Gernotshagen... .. The recording of our new album “Götterlieder II” was finished in 2010, so that we were able to release it in the same year. It’s the second part of the audio version of the “Edda”, therefore a consistent continuation of our previous album “Götterlieder”. After the release we played a lot of shows and were looking forward to the next European tour. Since autumn 2010 Odroerir has a new bandmember: Karlson has joined our horde to play the guitar, bagpipe, flutes and to complete the vocal arrangements.
In autumn 2011 we started to the „Black Trolls over Europe Tour III“ together with Suidakra, Waylander, our friends of XIV Dark Centuries, Cruadalach and Chain of Dogs.

Formed in 1993, WAYLANDER released their debut demo, 'Once Upon An Era', in early 1995. Mixing Irish folk music with extreme Metal, Waylander were soon dubbed Folk, Celtic and Pagan Metal. In 1996, with the addition of a full-time tin-whistle player, Waylander released their second demo, 'Dawning of a New Age', which soon gained Waylander a prominent position in the fledgling Folk Metal scene.
This was cemented when Waylander signed to Century Media, and in 1998 their debut album was released, entitled 'Reawakening Pride Once Lost'. After overcoming some line-up changes, Waylander signed with Blackend Records and released their sophomore album, 'The Light, the Dark and the Endless Knot', in early 2001.
In the last few years notable shows include Summer Breeze, Hammerfest, Hard Rock Hell, Bloodstock, Day of Darkness and Ultima Ratio Festival, as well as gigs all over Europe with some of the biggest names in the industry.
In 2008 Waylander signed to Listenable Records and released their acclaimed third album, 'Honour Amongst Chaos', which received a fantastic reaction worldwide.
