Dziwoludy

domingo, 10 de junio de 2018

Dziwoludy - a group of people connected by musical passion and ... the Middle Ages. They detached their guitars, amplifiers, and multi-effects, and took hold of simple wooden instruments. They wore ragged souvenirs and now they wander from castles and castles to the camp. They play at feasts and tournaments praising the times of ancient Slavs. And to dance they will choose a lively note. It is not easy to encounter such Dziwoludy - you have to go for them to the Middle Ages.

The idea dawned in the head of a certain Szuwar from Wrocław, when around 2014, he wandered around tournaments and rallies with a group of early medieval performers. Several musicians, brave enough to give up their modern habits, answered his call. And so the metal guitarist switched to the 3 string panduri, his bandmate got the saz, the jazz bassist critically looked at the wooden flute, the rock drummer learned that he was to play the baraban, the classical violinist uncertainly took kemenche bow, and the experienced singer was sent back to the first white singing lessons. Oh, it was not easy. Especially, if you mention that in the selection of repertoires they still had to work tediously through historical sources and the depths of the Internet. The whole undertaking rightly deserves the name "Dziwoludy". Now in their Middle Ages, they found their own sound, which they would like to share.

Ragojka

We are a group of occasional igri. We have emerged as an offshoot of the LH group of the Veles people, who is engaged in the reconstruction of the old Slavic ceremonies. Since we know from history that part of the ceremonies was always music, we wanted it to sound even on our rituals. Since it is nowhere documented how the music of our ancestors looked, we tried to create it on the basis of Slavic folklore. Gradually, we added folk songs, especially of the Southern and Eastern Slavs.

The Midnight

domingo, 27 de mayo de 2018

Midnight were formed in 2003, inspired by the magical sound of Blackmore's Night. The choice to be called "Midnight" is not accidental: "midnight" is a metaphor not only of a past time, but also a "mysterious elsewhere" the magic hour of the night for excellence, where fairies and elves dance in the woods, the wizards prepare their spells and the witches gather under a large walnut tree. "Minstrels" thus, offering melodies inspired by celtic, medieval and renaissance sweet ballads but also lively rhythms drawn from popular culture and folk music. All made more attractive from setting and costumes inspired by fantasy. The show intends to make reliving, through musical notes, scenery and costumes, the charm and enchantment of the "fantasy literature" a kind of narration between epic and fantastic, magical and mysterious, where narrated events are set in a time and a world imaginary in the "middle land" the linking ring between a permanent medieval, an improbable future and an alternative universe populated by magical creatures.

"The iron tongue of midnight hath told twelve. 'tis almost fairy time."
(from "A Midsummer Night's Dream” by William Shakespeare).

Year 2007, august 8th, is bands original date of foundation. After many practice sessions and changes in bands formation, we finally formed in what you can see today.

Band members met travelling to various medieval themed events. We all desired to reconstruct a medieval atmosphere that comes with medieval music and sound of musical instruments of that time, that allows the listener to feel the full nature of this shadowy, medieval world and leads the audience with musicians, back in time, on the days when men were brave knights, women – beautiful princess and the earth was still flat.

Band uses the loudest bagpipes, rauschpfeifs, string instruments and various drums. Obscurus Orbis is also the only group in Latvia, which uses hurdy-gurdy. We have performed at the Hanseatic Day’s in Pärnu and Kaunas (Estonia and Lithuania), Festival-mediaval (Germany), medieval festivals in Norway and many other events in Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Finland and Romania.

Liholesie (Лихолесье) - Fables (2018)

Here another great band that in the month of April released a new EP entitled 'Fables' that will take them with their music to a world of myths and rituals

Fables is distant echoes of ancient myths and rituals. Fables is music, that traveler hears in the songs of forest birds, in the howl of the northern wind, in the creaking of branches, in the silence of a starry night and in the sound of his own heart. Fables is dreams and visions that we will forget after awakening, but will remember at the last moment…

Heather Wasteland

HEATHER WASTELAND (Χερσόνησος, 3-bass Heretical Folk Art created by Cimmerian metalheads in neo-medieval metal way) was founded in the spring of 2001.

A distinctive feature of the group was the presence of two bass players (Sergey Pavlov and Alexander Vetrogon) and a drummer (Anatoliy Polovnikov) in the band’s line-up, and an intended refuse to use guitars.

HEATHER WASTELAND existed until the spring of 2002, having managed to play only two concerts. Their debut 12-minute performance created a furor owing to the music itself and the unrestrained energy at the stage that moved the bored crowd. The group became a discovery of the festival, and a concert photo of the raging front man was published in a very conservative newspaper. So, the group remained memorable long after the show for a long time.

In October of 2014, the band was reunited with the original line-up, but also recruited the third bass player (Andrey Anikushin).

HEATHER WASTELAND’s music is marked by the uncommon approach to folk metal, and interest in obscure or “forbidden” topics of pre-christian and medieval periods of European history, often in the esoteric context.

In 2015 HEATHER WASTELAND recorded 4 tracks for their debut EP “Under The Red Wolfish Moon” to be self-released in digipak CD format in December, 2016.

Mix by Andrey Ignatenkov, a sound engineer with high level of the concert experience owing to work with Joe Lynn Turner, Goran Bregović, Arkona, Bonfire, De-Phazz and many more at the concerts in the Crimea. Mastering by Iurii Kuz’kin, who is well-known to the fans of Slavonic pagan metal owing to his work with Chur, Oprich, and “Triunity” project.

Cover art by Njard, who is well-known for his cooperation with Ghost (Sweden), Grand Belial's Key (USA), Horna (Finland), Absurd (Germany), Sacrificia Mortuorum (France) and many more.

All EP tracks are already included in several CD- and digital compilations. The first official video “Tre Sverd” turned in a good score of views at Youtube and several social medias, and exceeded 10 thousand views in total over three months. The video is also included in a DVD-compilation of Terroraiser Magazine (Ukraine).

In the spring of 2016 Heather Wasteland recorded a neo-medieval cover version of the song “Personal Energy” for the official international tribute CD of Pestilence (the Netherlands, jazz/death metal). A chorus of growling trolls was recorded by Ind (Grenouer, Tartharia).

Irregang

martes, 22 de mayo de 2018

Irregang, in places also the Spielleut Irregang, is a native of Thuringia band from the field of medieval music.

The beginnings of the current four-member band date back to 1999, when band members Felix and Lehnchen met for a theatrical performance. Together with the later band member Dr. Met. Falcinellus they positioned themselves in the genre of medieval rock. In their self-perception, the ensemble members see themselves in the development phase of an independent musical style, which, although resorting to medieval melody and text fragments, but with the arrangement and elements of folk and rock closer to today's listening habits.

The debut album "In the intoxication of the pipes" appeared in the year 2005. In July 2010 followed her second album called "Golias", which was chosen in September of the same year to the CD of the month of the medieval music Internet portal minnesang.com. In October 2010, the music magazine Sonic Seducer reported on the band and also published a review of the new CD. Furthermore, Irregang are represented both on the medieval-facetted sampler of Zillo 2008 [3] and 2010 and also on the "Cold Hands Seduction" Vol.111 is with "Clauso Chronos" one of their songs.

Irregang also perform live on medieval markets and relevant music festivals both in Germany - such as the Falkensteiner Minneturnier at Burg Falkenstein - and in Denmark or France. In the movie "The Beloved Sisters" (2014), the musicians portrayed contemporary musicians in a dance scene under a lime tree and composed the piece "Studentdreider" for them. With the release of the third album "Faulenzia" in August 2017, Maledict left the band, which has since appeared as a trio. The play "Spielmann" was released in 2018 on the sampler Verbünder V, which was also reported in the magazine Karfunkel in the May 2018 issue.

The Moon and the Nightspirit

lunes, 21 de mayo de 2018

The Moon and the Nightspirit is a pagan-folk band from Hungary, brought to life in 2003 by Ágnes Tóth and Mihály Szabó. Since then they crafting a distinct artistic signature, reflected not only in their music but also in the unique visual universe that illustrates their work.

Ágnes, a skilled singer and multi-instrumentist, is also the talented lady responsible for the paintings which bring to The Moon and the Nightspirit’s music a fantasy-setting populated by creatures that trace back to traditional Hungarian legends and folklore. These memories of times forgotten also echo through the lyrics written by guitarist Mihály, which outline the spiritual mindset behind the project. From the beginning they wanted to be a full time band and play as many live shows as possible. To be able to do this the band completed by two permanent live members Gábor Végh and Gergely Cseh.

Such a combination has been greeted with growing enthusiasm since the release of their 2005 debut album on Equilibrium Music, “Of Dreams Forgotten and Fables Untold”, and the early shows that followed, which included an appearance on Hungarian National Television. Later, and in support of “Regõ Rejtem”, their second album, The Moon and the Nightspirit had the opportunity to tour throughout most of Europe. Playing in small fair markets and large festivals alike, including prestigious events such as Trolls et Legendes (Belgium), Wave-Gotik-Treffen (Germany) and Castle Party (Poland) and also invited to Castlefest in The Nederlanden this year. The band shared the stage with names like Corvus Corax, Faun, Omnia, Blackmore’s Night or Korpiklaani, and gradually conquered a prominent role in the Pagan/Folk scene.

Returning with “Ösforrás”, their third album, the duo invite the listener to the star-woven realm of the wise elders, the ones who knew the secrets of nature and walked the path of light eternal, and embody on their new material a more tribal and exotic approach, in intense rituals dedicated to the old and eternal tradition.

This collection of songs, which feed from the Ösforrás - the “Source Pristine”, the primordial womb, from which all has sprung, a sacred place where all is one - comes together as an offering to the slumbering gods of the old forests, streams and stones.

Weaving a web where threads of ancient mysticism combine with dreamy atmospheres, where World Music acquires a bewitching Pagan aura, The Moon and the Nightspirit live up to their potential as one of the most exciting and refreshing acts in the genre.

In spring of 2011 the 4th album Mohalepte have been released. It is a bewitching sylvan music inspired by Mother Nature. The band left Equilibriummusic and released the new cd by their own.

Delirium - Franconian Pagan Metal

The Pagan Metal band Delirium from Franconia puts their listeners with great attention to varied, melodic riffing in combination with steadily present harshness in times past, when the Franconian culture was alive everywhere.
The lyrics deal with legends and legends from all over Franconia on the one hand,
as well as themes from the Germanic world of gods and historical events on the other.

Since its founding in 2006, the sound of the 5 musicians has changed from raw, raw Death Metal to a wide-ranging world of sound, using all aspects of rock and metal.
From black metallic chaos, swinging melody passages to crashing straight rock reefs you get everything served on a colorful mixed slab.

If you have an appetite, you can join one of the numerous live concerts
like to convince of the qualities and celebrate the old gods and life with us!

Eivør

miércoles, 16 de mayo de 2018

So says Eivør – vocalist, instrumentalist and songwriter with a voice of rare beauty and power – when asked about where she gets her inspiration. These aren’t just words as she has relentlessly pursued music ever since dedicating her life to it at the tender age of fifteen.

Born in 1983 in the Faroe Islands, Eivør’s early musical forays were steeped in Faroese musical traditions. At the age of sixteen she released her self-titled debut album bearing the marks of this fruitful starting point. While an enduring love of Faroese culture remains at the heart of her work, its expression has been widened through profound interaction with other traditions.

Eivør’s musical palette has broadened since her folk beginnings as her albums and performances variably have included jazz, country folk, big band stylings, classical influences, and trip hop tinted rock. As of late, she has consolidated these experimental inputs into her own style of folktronica with heartfelt lyrical observations of life as it unfolds.

Eivør is now based in Denmark. Her music covers a wide musical and emotional range. She remains a voice unique in its intimacy, its effortless virtuosity and range of colours, evident from her first recording all the way through to her tenth album Slør from 2015. The english version of Slør was released in May 2017. The release sees Eivør entering the UK market performing on BBC’s Jools Holland and a sold out UK tour in June with a follow-up tour later in 2017. As always, she is a riveting live performer with a vivacious and warm stage presence.

Her career has thus far been a testament to the fact that there is indeed music in every situation. Yet it takes a skilled artist to be able to grasp and express this music and Eivør is such an artist; an acclaimed vocalist/composer at the peak of her powers.

Urze de Lume

jueves, 19 de abril de 2018

Legends and myth, rites and cries
Stories past, living new life in the hands of today. Living the present, that in future will be Past.
Awakening the old. As free as the wind blown by wood and echoed by the vibrating perring fur.

Back to the land, to grass, to heather, to honey, to being.

The wolf howls under the moon
Fear covers the snow, like expanding music.
Coarse yet finished. So claim the artisan’s hands.

Urze de Lume represent a homage to the past. Strongly inspired by the Iberian tradition, their music aims to celebrate the roots which identify a people and bind them to their land.
Their repertoire transmits the surviving soul of an era in which man and nature walked hand in hand, with respect for the land, the occult and its origins.

The main features of Urze de Lume is the use of Iberian ethnic instruments such as bagpipes, war drums, horns, ancient stringed instruments among others. This combination blossoms into a powerful and unique sound that summons the very deep Lusitanian roots.
