Datura medieval music

domingo, 23 de octubre de 2016

Francesco Scafidi, Lies Sommer, Tom Haage and Nynke Glazema are together the band Datura. We work for more than ten years now as medieval musicians and have played in many castles, joustig events, medieval village parties, openings, direction dinners, archeological presentations, ceremonies, weddings, gothic- folk- and fantasy festivals in the Netherlands and abroad. Once even in a swimming pool.

The band name Datura comes from the beautiful datura plant, also called 'angels trumpeth.

The datura was used in former times to come in the clouds.

Already in the early Middle Ages knew German herbal females (Hexen), a spread made from datura, belladonna and dried toads you could float through the air.

The best effect was obtained by applying these green fly ointment on the tip of a broomstick
